Momen Mohammad

Ayatollah Mohammad Momen was born on Thursday January 13, 1938 (23/10/1316 Shamsi and 10 Ze Al-Gha’deh 1356 Hijri) in Qom, to a religious family which devoted to Islam Prophet. His father is Late Hajj Abbas Momen who was a well known man and trusted man by people, he was a farmer and lived close to hundred years and died in 1999 (1377).

He commenced his education at 7 and learned Quran in Maktab Khaneh (unofficial school). Then he learned the book of Nasab Al-Sabian and some other books. Due to someone’s suggestion for his father and his father’s agreement he studied in Islamic-National School of that time and he graduated with the sixth grade in two years, then he studied the first grade of high school but he couldn’t pass take the exam because  his legal age was not enough. He started seminary in 1954 (1332) and he learned Arabic literature, many parts of Mottaval, and all of Ma’alem Al-Osul in two years. He learned Sharh Lam’e in a year, Makaseb and Rasael of Sheikh Ansari in two years, Kyfaia Vol.1 in the sixth year of his education, and attended Extra Principle and Jurisprudence. He studied Divine Wisdom and Philosophy alongside Jurisprudential and principals education, and learned Sharh Manzume Sabevari, Elahiat Shafa and many parts of Asfar. He went to Najaf in 1964 (1342) and during 6 months he learned a lot of things there, then he returned to Iran and completed his education till 1975 (1353). His major masters in seminary are Late Imam Khomeini, Late Mohaghegh Damad, and Late Sheikh Morteza Ansari. His presence in Seminary Teachers Association before the revolution, and Follow-up its approvalsanddeclarationsare his magnificent activities which caused him to arrest and exile in 1975 (1353). He sentenced to settle in Shadad, Kerman and after 7 or 8 month of living there he was exiled to Toiserkan, and his banishment not only didn’t make him to finish his disclosures and political struggles, but also he shown the real face of Shah Regime for people by stating the rules of Islam and among them the important issues of the Revolution, and invited people to follow Shia Marja especially Imam Khomeini who was the leader of the struggles against the Regime. After the Islamic Revolution, his activities continued in form of executive responsibilities and enlightenment of ethics and lessons. His major posts after the revolution are listed below: 1. Responsible for the selection and dispatch the Sharia (Religious) judges of the Revolutionary Courts across the country on the command of Imam   2. The head of The Supreme Court of the Islamic Revolution 3. A member of The Supreme Judicial Council     4. A member of the Guardian Council by decree of Imam and then by decree of Ayatollah Kahmenei   5. The head of Qom Seminary and a member of the Supreme Council of the policymaking of Qom Seminary from 1993 to 1996 (1371 to 1374) and a member of Supreme Council of Qom Seminary   6. The member of Majlis Khobregan (Assembly of Experts) from Semnan in first and second periods, and from Qom in third period, 7. The head of Majma Ah-Al-Beit.

Now Ayatollah Momen is a teacher of Qom Seminary and in Ijtihad and Feghahat doctrine he traind useful students for Islam world.
